As I write, I’m just down the hall from where the heads of state are gathered for the 2010 NATO Summit. As NATO delegates come and go, many will participate in a series of panel discussions organized by the Atlantic Council’s Young Atlanticist Network. Our schedule today includes presentations by General Petraeus, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Assistant Secretary General Jamie Shea, the Prime Minister of Greece, a number of foreign ministers, SACEUR Adm Stavridis, Atlantic Council President Frederick Kempe, and others.
I am particularly looking forward to moderating the last panel of the day, titled “The Comprehensive Approach,” which will include NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative Mark Sedwill, the top UN official in Afghanistan Steffan de Mistura and Ashraf Ghani, a former Afghan presidential candidate, now affiliated with the Institute for State Effectiveness.
