Huge Earthquake Strikes Pakistan

Reports are coming in fast via twitter that the US Geological Survey is confirming that a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan.  The apparent epicenter was in Southwest Pakistan, near the Afghan border.

Needless to say, this is a huge earthquake–stronger than the 7.0 earthquake that shook Haiti one year ago.  After massive floods that inundated one fifth of Pakistan, it would seem that once again the country is falling victim to natural disaster.

More updates soon as information trickles in.

Update: It appears the quake was downgraded to a 7.2. Still very powerful. Here’s the apparent epicenter.   Several Twitter users as far away as Dubai report feeling the trembles.
