Next week, Liberians head to the polls for the first presidential election since Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf assumed office in 2006 at the end of a nearly two decade-long destructive civil war.
As per tradition Brazil will kick off the events tomorrow with a speech from President Dilma Rousseff. Then, President Obama (in his role as the head of state of the host country) will take to the podium. Other notable speakers tomorrow include French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
Prior to appearing on the Colbert Report last night Ambassador Rice tweeted: "Strongest U.S. ally: Colbert Nation. RT @USUN Tonight at 11:30pm ET, @AmbassadorRice will be on the @ColbertReport." The theory is tested.
