I just came off a Huffington Post Live segment discussing the UN’s response to the chemical weapons attack in Syria yesterday.
Right now, a UN weapons inspection team is just a few miles from the site of the alleged attack. They will almost certainly request access to the site. If the Syrian government denies the request or puts up various roadblocks then the Security Council will face a serious inflection point. Russia, in particular, will be forced to decide whether or not it wants to back up Syrian efforts to block this investigation.
I suspect in the next day or two we will reach that moment of truth.
Here is the segment discussing these issues.
