Security Forces Fire on Crowds in Syria (Video)

In the early days of the Syrian uprising, the epicenter of the unrest was the city of Deraa. Security forces very brutally suppressed revolt in that city, raising allegations of a widespread massacre in the city. So far, Syrian officials have refused to let an Human Rights Council mandated investigative team enter the country to look into these allegations.

Toward a Syria Security Council Resolution?

The West and Russia and China are still very far apart on a potential Security Council resolution on Syria. In fact, Russia and China did not even show up to a Council meeting on Saturday.

The Europeans have been circulating the draft of a Security Council resolution condemning the Syrian government for its violent suppression of non-violent protests.  China and Russia have always been lukewarm to the idea.
