Tahrir Square has become the symbolic and geophysical epicenter of the #Jan25 protests in Egypt. The protests there have been overwhelmingly peaceful there. Until now.
Apparently, Hosni Mubarak’s words did little to soothe the protestors yesterday. Equally apparent, is that it seems Mubarak supporters are riled up—and these supporters are now descending on Tahrir square spoiling for a fight.
The violent images are flashing across Al Jazeera right now. Rocks are falling like a hailstorm. Bloodied faces abound. Gun fire is clearly audible. This is truly frightening.
