A couple of recent developments seem to belie the notion that the UN is somehow intractibly anti-Israel. First, we had the staunchly pro-Israel (and Jewish) chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee argue that Obama’s policy of engagement at the UN served both American and Israeli interests. Now, the executive director of a leading Jewish non-profit advocacy group, the American Council for World Jewry, is also singing the UN’s praises. Specifically, the organization’s executive director, Jack Rosen, wrote a letter to Ban Ki Moon praising the Secretary General’s leadership in confronting Iran at the Non-proliferation Review Conference last week. Here’s the letter:
The group describes itself as “a home for Jews from all over the world, joining together as partners to ensure our common and collective survival.”
